Purple Heron 07 Apr 2016 Wat Tyler CP, Pitsea Lee G R Evans 1 Adult summer showed well, appearing in flight perhaps every two hours; I first espied it at 1320 when it flew back to the reserve reedbed from that over the far side of the landfill access road. It quickly disappeared into the reedbed 70 yards from the main hide after giving us all a great flyby. It then reappeared from very same spot at 1531 hours, perching in full view on the reeds for several minutes before walking away and out of view at 1535 - cheers all round for its performance. A great crowd shared the experience, several of whom I hadn't seen in quite a while. I shall share my photographs on Twitter later
