I hurried back to The Common, in the direction they had flown, convinced I was out of luck. But, after a bit of frantic searching, there they were, swirling above the cliffs, north of The Tower. After a couple of minutes the flock flew off to the southwest, at about 7:45. Later picked up at Holland Haven and Colne Point. Absolutely lovely; sitting on a bush on the edge of the paddock in the NW corner of John Weston, at 8:10. Darrell Stile had already been watching the bird. We then watched the bird for about twenty minutes as it hunted around the paddock. It then moved steadily west along the bushes and fence wires bordering the drain at the northern edge of Walton Hall Marshes, mobbed by whitethroats, reed buntings and skylark, until lost from sight. ) [Brian Combes]
