U25s Ringing Demo

David Wilkinson, along with other volunteers from the South Essex Ringing Group (SERG), has kindly agreed to run another bird-ringing demonstration at Wat Tyler Country Park on Sunday 23rd June. This time, the demo is for younger people under the age of 25 (please note, anyone under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The demonstration will last for approximately 2-3 hours, during which time you'll get the chance to watch birds being ringed at close range, whilst finding out more about ringing and the science behind it.

The event is limited to 10 people aged under 25 only, plus parent/guardian where required. We anticipate a lot of interest, so places are being allocated on a first come basis. To register your interest, please email your name, age, name of parent/guardian if under 18, and a contact telephone number (parent/guardian's if under 18) to

Ringing demonstrations are dependant on fair weather and may be cancelled at short notice. Should this happen, we will inform everyone by email the night before and we'll try to arrange a new date as soon as possible. Further details of Wat Tyler CP including directions can be found below. We'll be meeting outside the main gates at 07:30 prompt, if anyone arrives late they may not be able to take part.

Of course, the birds' welfare is of paramount importance at all times, and attendees will be expected to remain as calm and quiet as possible when birds are in the hand*.
